According to a Banfield Pet Hospital survey, 91 percent of pet owners are not prepared for the next natural disaster

TV Personality Sean Lowe was on the ground after Hurricane Harvey and knows firsthand the devastation and confusion natural disasters create. Sadly, it wasn’t just people who were affected—pets have faced their own hardships in the aftermath, with thousands displaced or missing. As we head into hurricane season this year, Sean has partnered with the Banfield Foundation for a national public service announcement to help ensure all pet owners are prepared for the unexpected.

PREVENTABLE DISEASES: THE IMPORTANCE OF CHILDHOOD VACCINATION FOR IMMUNITY

Former professional football player Herman Moore, the Henry Ford Health System, and Pfizer are urging parents to make sure their children receive the CDC-recommended vaccinations. The CDC recommends a vaccination schedule that helps protect against 14 serious diseases before age two, as babies are at a higher risk for vaccine-preventable diseases due to their still-developing immune systems.

The National Limousine Association’s Ride Responsibly™ initiative and Promoting Awareness, Victim Empowerment (PAVE) have joined forces to produce a public service campaign starring actress and activist Pamela Anderson. The PSA draws attention to the vast number of sexual assaults that have occurred in ride-hailing vehicles and questions if these were caused by insufficient background check procedures. This PSA also serves as a call-to-action following alarming revelations of sexual harassment and assault that reach far beyond Hollywood and Washington, D.C.

CONSUMERS URGED TO ONLY USE CORDLESS PRODUCTS WHERE CHILDREN ARE PRESENT

The Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) are urging consumers to check their window coverings for exposed or dangling cords which can pose a strangulation hazard to infants and young children. WCSC, CPSC and safety experts strongly recommend that only cordless window coverings or window coverings with inaccessible cords be used in homes with young children.
